**This is the audio version of the newsletter for those who don’t feel like reading. No judgement.**
I’m a religious person, through and through. I believe in God and I acknowledge all the things He’s done for me. So me speaking to a psychic Medium was something I felt was completely out of my scope of normalcy. “What do I need to do that for, when God will provide me with all the insight I need”, is what I would say to myself. Plus I didn’t want to be told the future. It felt like having a cheat code for your life, kinda like Biff with that almanac on Back To The Future, Part 2. If you know, you know.
At first I relented, but after talking to my friend and hearing her success story, I was intrigued. You see, my friend ended up making some major moves over the last few months…new home, new job, new city. She said to me “the Medium will only give you insight based on what she sees, it’s still up to you to do the work and get to the destination.” So I said why the hell not, and gave it a shot.
Cue in the moment of clarity.
I only asked 2 or 3 questions, but I ended up getting so much out of the 30 minute conversation. I’ll spare you the lengthy details. However, here are a few key points from the convo that I feel comfortable telling you:
There is no clear cut example of anxiety for people. It can come in different sizes and forms. Back in 2017 I was diagnosed with depression and high anxiety. I thought I overcame it because I’m nowhere near that feeling now. But just because I don’t show it, it doesn’t mean it’s not there. So I needed to get back to doing the things that helped me before: meditation, yoga and journaling consistently. Ultimately, let go of the anxiety. That goes for my closest family and friends too. Let it go and allow God to do His thing.
I’m gifted and talented, but oftentimes I allow myself to get in front of myself. That’s where my anxiety comes into play. Anxiety will make me downplay otherwise great opportunities. Instead, go with my gut and as I said earlier, let go of the anxiety.
My 3 daughters are going to be just fine. In fact, they’re going to be more than fine. I won’t discuss the details of what I was told, but I teared up a little bit after hearing the greatness all three will exude.
Back when I stopped filmmaking in 2016, I always wondered “what if I kept going?” I got the answer I NEEDED to hear to close that chapter. I won’t lie, it stung a little bit. But again, I can finally get closure from it.
I wear many hats (filmmaking, podcasting, photography, clothing brand, writing) but as you can see, there are too many irons in the fire. She said there is one thing I completely excel with, but I threw it to the backburner. Focus my attention on this one thing and it will explode. Everything else I do will align with the main focused goal. Again, let God work through you.
Most importantly, KEEP YOUR FREAKING MOUTH SHUT! Don’t let anyone know what you’re doing, because they will steal your idea or influence you enough to not want to do it. Only work with people who you feel are going to help you achieve what it is you’re set to do.
These are several key points from the conversation, but this is only scratching the surface of the full time we had. My largest takeaway from this is simple:
Follow your heart and go with your gut. Period.
So I will.
POSITIVE WORDS OF THE DAY: Legacy doesn’t start with what you leave behind. It starts with what you do now. Being a service to others will ensure your spot in their hearts forever. That’s legacy.
Thank you for reading.
